Biography

Training

Audrey's foray into the art world began at an early age when she was awarded a scholarship, in high school, to the Nova Scotia College of Art. Some of her earliest studies were with Owen Chicquin, a teacher at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

She continued her studies with these well known artists:

In 1982, she graduated with distinction from the Visual and Creative Arts program at St. Lawrence College in Cornwall.

As an artist always wanting to learn, she has continued her studies with the following:
Queensboro Spring Barns
  • Printmaking with Robin Wall
  • Portraiture at the Sadie Bronfman center in Montreal
  • Figure study at the Ottawa School of Art,
  • Oil painting and figure study at the Thousand Islands Summer School of Art
  • Figure painting with Andrea Green at St. Lawrence College, Brockville.
  • Acrylic painting with Carol Barns, St. Lawrence College, Brockville
  • Oil landscape with Doug Purdon, Bridgewater

Career

Other artistic endeavours included:

  • Operating the Country Studio with two other artists and the Corner Gallery in Morrisburg.
  • From 1970 to 1976, taught regular leisure courses in Oil Painting for St. Lawrence College
  • Gallery Director for the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery from 1983 to 1992.

Winter Barns
As Director she was responsible for the administration and artistic direction of the gallery. She instituted regular juried exhibitions, a Gallery Shoppe, Art in Public Spaces, regular Newsletters, Classes and exhibitions in co-operation with local school boards and regular adult classes, workshops and art related activities.

She has retired and is working to further develop her art. Presently she shares the operation of Winddrift Gallery and Studio with her artist husband Alan.
